LIGHTWEIGHT CASTABLES

These castable systems are used in a variety of working lining and backup lining applications. They are designed to offer a broad range of density choices and a broad range of thermal resistance. These are divided into two general groups; standard lightweight castables and the low conductivity series of castables designated with LK.

The standard series of lightweights are available as vibratable castables and as gunning mixes. These are available in desities of 40 to 100 pcf. Applicable temperature ranges are 2200°F up to 3300°F, depending on the specific product. These are also available with the aluminum penetration resistance package. The LK or low conductivity series products are available as vibratable castables in densites of 26 to 90 pcf. Applicable temperature ranges are 1600°F up to 2500°F depending on the specific product.

For these products the first number is the density in pounds per cubic foot or pcf. The second number is the maximum temperature limit divided by 100.
