LOW CEMENT CASTABLESAll Low Cement Castables produced by Westmoreland Advanced Materials, Inc. are based on the latest surfactant and bonding matrix technology. These premium products are designed to flow exceedingly well at low moisture contents making them ideal to pump and shotcrete in addition to vibration cast. This group of castables is represented by a broad range of products with service temperatures up to 3,400°F in a variety of service environments. As with most of the products produced by Westmoreland Advanced Materials, Inc. these castables are available with an aluminum penetration resistance package for use in contact with molten aluminum metal. These compositions are designated with the AL prefix. These products are also available with a very coarse aggregate. Compositions utilizing the coarse aggregate are very resistant to impact an abrasion and are successfully employed in floors, jambs and lip rings and other applications. These compositions are designated with a C postscript. A fine version is also available for use in making highly detailed cast shapes and are designated with an F postscript. Alkali resistant additives are available and are designated with an AR postscript. Finally we offer Thermal Shock Resistant packages for use in applications such as burner block or other thermally cycling environments. These products are designated with a TSR postscript.
These Low Cement Castables are premium products based on the latest surfactant and bonding matrix technology. They are designed to flow exceedingly well at low moisture contents making them ideal to pump and shotcrete in addition to vibration cast. This group of castables is represented by a broad range of products with service temperatures up to 3300°F in a variety of service environments. (note: SiC will oxidize above 2500°F) These products contain Silicon Carbide. Silicon carbide provides a very high degree of abrasion resistance. These products find applications where solid materials are pushed on or across the cast surface. For example sows being sweated on a hearth of an aluminum melting furnace. They are also used in application where molten metal streams impact refractory. As with most of our products these are available with an aluminum penetration resistance package for use in contact with molten aluminum metal. These compositions are designated with the AL prefix. These products are also available with a very coarse aggregate. Compositions utilizing the coarse aggregate are very resistant to impact an abrasion and are successfully employed in floors, jambs and lip rings to name a few applications. These compositions are designated with a C postscript. We offer a Fine version for use in making highly detailed cast shapes. These are designated with an F postscript.
Low Cement, Spinel Bonded Castables produced by Westmoreland Advanced Materials, Inc. are premium products based on the latest surfactant and bonding matrix technology. Theses products are designed to flow exceedingly well at low moisture contents making them ideal to pump and shotcrete in addition to vibration cast. This group of castables is represented by a broad range of products with service temperatures up to 3300°F in a variety of service environments. Because these products contain magnesia-alumina spinel, the mineral phase imparts a resistance to certain steel making and similar slags. The shape of the mineral imparts a degree of thermal shock resistance as well. These products are also available with a very coarse aggregate. Compositions utilizing the coarse aggregate (designated with a C postscript) are very resistant to impact and abrasion. . A Fine version, (designated with an F postscript), is available for use in making highly detailed cast shapes.
Low Cement, Silica Based Castables produced by Westmoreland Advanced Materials, Inc. are premium products based on the latest surfactant and bonding matrix technology. They are designed to flow exceedingly well at low moisture contents making them ideal to pump and shotcrete in addition to vibration cast. This group of castables is represented by products with service temperatures up to 2000°F. These products are based on vitreous silica. A typical application area is in aluminum troughing and related transfer vessels. These products tend to have lower thermal conductivity and expansion compared to their alumina or silicon carbide based counter parts. A Fine version (designated with an F postscript) is available for use in making highly detailed cast shapes.
